When: January 16-19, 2020
Gladstone Hotel's 17th annual Come Up to My Room (CUTMR) is a 4-day alternative art and design exhibition. Taking place on each of the hotel's floors (mostly floors 2nd - 4th), rooms are transformed to contemporary art projects that challenge the way we think and see the world around us. Each work of art is individualized with a different story to share.
Some exhibits I particularly loved at this year's CUTMR were:
Kal Honey's Subversive Signs,
All Odd's Everything Rhymes With Orange [image #1] ,
Noni Kaur's Plasmic Play [image #2],
Sasha Bateman/ Catharina Goldnau/ Brenda Nieves/ Kim Ross' Enchanted Forest,
Alexandra Majerus' In This Place,
Emmie Tsumura's Sound of a Mud Puddle [image #3],
Morris Wazney's Untitled.
Thought-provoking and beautifully put together, CUTMR is worth the visit. At $10 a ticket, which can be purchased on site or Eventbrite, the show is a steal to see some of the best local art Toronto has to offer. Additionally, many of the exhibit's artists are on location, meaning any questions or thoughts can be addressed directly. For more information about the event, click here.
